Compensating Cables

COMPENSATING CABLES

Kerone manufactures a wide range of Compensating Cables with a variety of insulations to provide protection from chemical corrosion, moisture, heat and abrasions, also known as Thermocouple Extension Wire. They are provided with metallic covering to increase the resistance from abrasion, wear and tear. They are used to avoid electrical interference in precision control system.

Applications

They are used in Iron and Steel Plants, Non-Ferrous metal melting, Heat Treatment, Cement Ceramics, Chemical Plants, Petrochemical and Fertilizer Plants, Power Stations, Glass & Food Industries and Laboratories etc.

Conductors

The conductors of Thermocouple Extension wires are tested in accordance with the BS 1834 specification for accuracy and calibrated at 100C within +3C

Colour Codes

The colour coding follows BS 1834 specifications.

Standard Wire Gauges

Standard wires are supplied with flexible 3/22 SWG conductors. The specific requirements can have the following conductors 1. Solid Conductor 14, 16, 18, 20 & 22 SWG. 2. Flexible Conductors 3/20, 3/22, 7/22, 7/30, 14/30 or 24/30 SWG.

For Computerised Temperature Sensing And Control

Kerone offers complete line of 3 - wire thermocouple extension wires

In high speed computer controlled system, any interference along the extension wire due to the milli volt signal generated at the remotely located thermocouple junction can generate erratic signals. Kerone offers a complete line of 3 Wire thermocouple extension wire. It consists of negative and positive conductors insulated with PVC and a copper drain wire is placed at the twisted conductors. Aluminised Mylar tape further wraps this setting. The whole assembly is PVC coated. The third wire acts as the common for the sensor and the computer. Such types of extension wires are also available with Teflon insulation or fibreglass insulation for high temperature exposure of the conductor.

    PVC to PVC

    Code A

The individual bare wires are extruded with colour coated polyvinyl. Both the conductors are kept in parallel and covered with PVC. They are best suited for the temperature range of 20 to 200 degree Celsius and can withstand moisture, alkalies, oil and acids. They are good dielectric, mechanically strong and economical.

PVC to PVC Plus Overall Asbestos

    Code B

The individual conductors are PVC coated, kept together and sheathed in PVC. Finally they are coated with asbestos. The advantages are similar to that of code A and besides which they are able to withstand electrical short circuits when contacted with hot surface.

    Teflon to Teflon

    Code C

The conductors are Teflon coated individually as well as when placed together. They can withstand moisture, acids, vapours and the temperature of 250 C.

    Fibreglass to Fibreglass

    Code C

The conductors are covered with impregnated fibreglass individually and again in grouping which is finally impregnated in varnish. The impregnations helps in increasing the resistance to abrasion and moisture but are permanently destroyed above 200 C.

    Asbestos to Asbestos

    Code E

The conductors are covered with felted asbestos, placed together and overall covered with asbestos. They can withstand a continuous temperature of up to 500C.

    Metal Covering

    Code F

The metallic covering increases the resistance of the standard thermocouple extension wire against abrasion, mechanical damage and higher tensile strength. They comprise of tinned copper wires or galvanized steel wires in general. The specific requirement can be provided with Stainless steel metallic covering.

Mineral Insulated Thermocouple Extension Wires & Cables

Mineral Insulated Thermocouple Extension wires and Cables can be used in all the places where the conventional wires cannot be used due to environmental conditions. The cables are available with metallic sheath and correct composition conductors. Fused magnesium oxide powder, the insulation of the cables withstands very high temperatures. The cables are annealed to make them bend according to the requirement.

    Multipair Extension Cables

Multipair Extension Cables are made through specific order with individual and overall insulation to best suit the specific installation requirement. They reduce the cost of installation in comparison to pulling separate pairs through conduit.
